No. 21.

In his despatch at 110 on 53846/38. the

Governor informed us that he had received a further

application for permission to set up an aircraft

factory in Hong Kong, this time from a body who

propose to call themselves "The China Aircraft Co.Ltd."

The Governor added that, if it were decided to allow

the project to proceed, he thought it only fair to

give a further opportunity to the original applicants,

viz., Messrs. Pawley and Dodwell. Mr. Dodwell called

to see Mr. Gent in November last, and was told there

would be no objection to the local members of the

concern seeking an assurance from the Governor of

Hong Kong that their application, when the time came

for the then existing objections to be withdrawn,

would have prior consideration (See Minute on 126 on

-/38 file).

Nos. 22 and 23.
